WORKFLOW · OPERATOR · 90 MIN

Interview prep for a specific role.

The 90-minute prep for a specific interview. Three steps: role decode, story prep, questions to ask.

CADENCE · PER INTERVIEW · 90 MIN

Interview prep either doesn't happen or produces overrehearsed answers that sound coached. This workflow does the specific prep that actually helps: decode what the role is really asking for, prepare 3-4 real stories that answer 80% of behavioral questions, and generate a specific set of questions you'll ask them.

STEP 01

Decode the role

Goal: What's actually being asked for, past the job description.

THE PROMPT

Interview for [role] at [company]. Job description: [paste]. What I know about the company/team: [paste]. Read past the JD — what are they ACTUALLY hiring for? What problem is this role's existence trying to solve? What kind of person succeeds vs fails here?

EXPECTED OUTPUT · REPRESENTATIVE
[JD + context]

STEP 02

3-4 real stories

Goal: Stories using real work, structured for retelling.

THE PROMPT

Given the role decode: which 3-4 stories from your actual work best demonstrate the traits they're hiring for? Structure each as STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Not made-up examples — real ones. Keep specific numbers where you can.

EXPECTED OUTPUT · REPRESENTATIVE
(context from prior steps)

STEP 03

Questions to ask them

Goal: Questions that show you understand the role + help you decide.

THE PROMPT

Draft 5 questions you'll ask the interviewer(s). Split them: 2 about the specific role (tests your understanding of the JD), 2 about the team/context (helps you actually decide if you want this), 1 about compensation/next-step (practical). No generic 'what's the culture like' questions.

(context from prior steps)

THE COMPOUNDING PART

Repeatability, not cleverness.

HANDOFFS

What lives where when the workflow finishes.

Save the prep doc + a note after the interview on what actually got asked. Over 5-10 interviews, patterns emerge that inform how you prep next time.

VARIATIONS

The same shape, different jobs.

  • Panel interview version: same structure but tailor stories to expected questioner backgrounds (technical vs behavioral vs leadership).
  • Second-round version: same structure + a specific pre-thought answer to 'why do you want this specifically' that goes beyond 'the role is interesting.'

Try this workflow once. Then decide if it earns a recurring slot.

The value compounds after the third run, not the first.
