Will it read the actual PDFs?

Yes — attach up to 30 per chat. LADLE reads the text, tables, and figures descriptions. For math-heavy PDFs with complex notation, quality drops; verify against the original.

Can it write my thesis?

Technically yes, ethically no, and pragmatically it wouldn't survive committee review. Committees can tell. Use it for scaffolding, editing, and mechanical work; do the thinking yourself.

Best plan for a grad student?

Base ($20). Most grad-student workflows fit; only intense long-document workflows (multiple full dissertations pasted daily) push into Max territory.

LIT REVIEW SYNTHESIS

Turn 40 papers into a structured review.

Paste your abstracts + notes. Get a lit review scaffold organized by theme, with the tension points named.

20 papers on procrastination in academic contexts. Give me a lit review scaffold organized around the debates.

COMPS PREP

Comps reading list, condensed.

Paste the reading list. Get summaries at the level comps expect + likely question themes.

5 books on my comps list from the American political thought section. Summarize + predict question types.

CHAPTER DRAFTS

The scaffold that turns into a chapter.

Give the argument you want the chapter to make + your sources. Get a scaffold you flesh out with actual analysis — plus the sections you'd otherwise agonize over.

Chapter scaffold arguing that early-20c American progressivism was more constrained by racial politics than mainstream narratives suggest. Have 25 primary sources, 15 secondary.

WHY THIS EXISTS

Grad school is 10 years of writing. LADLE takes months off. $8/mo of your subscription is earmarked into a meal fund on the road to a real partnership with the hunger-relief charity we select.

Questions.

Depends on your program's rules and how you use it. Using AI to draft your dissertation for you is misconduct at most schools. Using AI to synthesize a lit review scaffold you then execute yourself is usually fine. Read your program's specific AI policy; talk to your advisor if unclear.

Try it before you commit.
