Most product roadmap pages show only committed items and hide the exploration behind sales calls. Ours publishes the exploration too — the trade-off is that some of these items will never ship, and that's the honest state.
Under active exploration
What might not ship
- Custom-model routing — currently 60/40 against. LADLE's clarity partly comes from being one-model. Adding switching would fragment the mental model.
- Public chat-history sharing — moderation cost may exceed the value. If we can't answer 'what happens when someone shares harmful content' cleanly, we shouldn't ship the feature.
- In-app image generation — economically challenging at our price point. Might be years out unless costs drop.
How exploration becomes commitment
An item moves from exploring to committed once we've: (1) validated demand with real customer conversations, (2) scoped the build to a specific quarter with a named owner, (3) identified the risks and their mitigations, (4) written a shipping-quality bar we won't compromise on. If any of these fail during exploration, the item either changes shape or drops.
How to weigh in
If one of these items would materially affect your subscription decision, email us. We track 'this would help me subscribe' signals differently from 'this would be nice.' The former is what moves exploration to commitment; the latter is background noise. Email support@ladle.chat.
