7-day no-questions refund. If you subscribed and decide within seven days of your first charge that LADLE isn’t for you, we refund the full amount to your original payment method. Email hello@ladle.chat from the account email and we process the refund the same business day. No form. No retention offer. No “are you sure?” pop-up in the app.
Prorated refund of annual time. If you paid annually and cancel before the anniversary, we refund the unused months prorated to the day. If you paid $200 for a year and cancel four months in, you receive $200 × (8/12) = $133.33 back to the original payment method within five business days. Cancel via Settings or by emailing support.
Monthly billing after day 7. If you cancel a monthly subscription after day 7 of the current cycle, we do not refund the current month; you retain access through the end of the paid period, and no further charges occur. This is deliberate: monthly cadence is intentionally short so a mismatch resolves within weeks, not months.
Business / team refunds. Same policy applies per organization. 7-day full refund from the first invoice. Prorated refund of annual time on request. For enterprise-negotiated contracts, refund terms are per the executed MSA.
Involuntary refunds. If we terminate your account for a serious Acceptable Use violation (see /legal/acceptable-use), any unused prepaid subscription time is refunded pro-rata to the original payment method. We do not want to profit from an account we terminated.
Meal earmark stays booked.
The meal-fund earmark is not held pending your refund.
When you subscribe, the $8/month portion of your $20 is earmarked into the LADLE meal fund on the day the charge clears — pegged at the $0.80/meal working peg. On the last day of the calendar month, we publish a fund report on /impact/reports with the reserved-meal count. The fund ships as real partner donations (with the partner we select reference numbers) once the $50,000/year partnership threshold clears. If you subsequently request a refund, the refund comes from LADLE’s working capital — not from the meal fund. The earmark that included your $8 stays booked.
This is a deliberate operating decision, not a marketing line. If we clawed back earmarks to fund refunds, the entire “$8 per subscription reserves meals” framing would be false — the meals would be conditional on subscriber retention. They aren’t. Once reserved, reserved.

- Include just: “Refund please.” No explanation required. If you want to tell us why so we can improve, we’ll read it — but it’s not a condition.
- 7-day refunds are same-business-day. Prorated annual refunds are five business days to appear on your statement (bank timing).
