Remove a teammate.
UPDATED 2026-08-01To remove a member from your workspace: Settings → Team → click the member → Remove from workspace. Confirm. The seat is released immediately.
What happens to their chats depends on your organization's decision at removal time. You'll be presented with three options:
1. **Preserve chats, transfer ownership to an admin.** The chats stay in the workspace under a designated admin's account. Useful for offboarding when work continuity matters — a departing engineer's chats about a specific project remain accessible to the team lead. 2. **Preserve chats, keep with the removed member.** The person leaves the workspace but retains access to their own chats on a personal account (they'll be prompted to add a payment method within 30 days if they want to keep chatting; if they don't, chats are archived, not deleted). 3. **Delete chats entirely.** The chats are removed from LADLE within 24 hours. Meal donations already made for those cycles are not reversed; those meals are already funded through WFP.
The removed member gets an email notifying them of the change and which option was selected. This is deliberate — silent removal without notification is a pattern we don't build.
Billing: the seat cost for the remaining portion of the current cycle is credited to your next invoice (not refunded to your card). If you removed 3 seats on day 15 of a 30-day cycle, you'll see a credit of $30 (3 × $10) on next month's invoice.
If you're removing someone as part of a broader offboarding checklist for compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA-adjacent, etc.), the "preserve, transfer to admin" option produces an audit trail with the transfer timestamp and admin username.
